Marquette - Deer hunters in the Upper Peninsula could be reduced to a one-buck per season limit.
The state Natural Resources Commission plans to discuss and vote on the proposal Thursday in Big Rapids.
Michigan hunters have been allowed to bag two bucks per season for more than a decade.
Commissioner John Madigan of Munising last month proposed the one-buck limit, whether it's taken by bow, gun or muzzleloader. If approved, the rule becomes effective this year.
Madigan says UP sportsmen like the one-buck limit because they think the region's deer population is declining.
